EVENT: Vernissage at Sofá Café, profits will be donated

Sofá Café is sponsoring a Brazilian artist in his vernissage on August 15th at 7PM at 217 Newbury Street Boston.

João Galera  is an artist and anthropologist. In this project, titled “Antes que acabe” (before it ends), he focus on the rapidly changing landscape on the city of Sao Paulo, where the accelerated growth has replaced the typical suburb houses with skyscrapers, to a point that only a few of the original houses remain in the bairros. This iconography immortalizes, in lines, the houses of Vila Madalena and Pinheiros, capturing a portion of the city’s history before the landscape is completely replaced.  More about Joao’s work can be found at https://vimeo.com/124314272

Joao is donating his revenue to the project “Fazedores de café”, a program that trains teenagers from low income areas of Sao Paulo to work with coffee, as baristas or roasters, and gives them the opportunity to create their own blends!

Sofa Cafe would like to invite you to come and visit Joao Galera’s exhibit, and learn more about the “Fazedores de café” program as you savor some of the blends produced by the students from the latest class. Please, we would like to ask for you to partner with us in promoting this event by inviting your friends.

Thank you for your support!
